Before the writing model (like Claude 3.5 Sonnet) writes a single word, our system pings Perplexity Sonar—an AI built specifically for real-time web search.

We instruct Sonar to act as a live sports reporter:

• "What is the verified final score for today's match?"
• "Give me the exact stat line for the top performer."
• "Verify the current league standings."

This creates a VERIFIED LIVE DATA block, which is then fed to the writing model with a strict "Numerical Integrity" rule: Never invent a number or date not present in this block.

Step 2: The "Sports Editor Pass" (New in v2.5.179)

Even with strict prompts, writing models can sometimes slip up and combine verified stats incorrectly.

To guarantee absolute precision, we introduced the Sports Editor Pass. Once the article is drafted, we send the entire draft back to Perplexity, accompanied by the original Verified Live Data.

We tell Perplexity: "You are a ruthless Sports Editor. Check every single number, date, and name in this draft against the verified facts. If the writer made a mistake, fix it directly in the text."
